What excuse can I give to go into nextdoor neighbours garden?

June 30th, 2010 1 comment

If you have read my previous questions (which I suggest you do) then you will know that me and my gorgeous hubby Alan, AKA Al, and I are having trouble with the fellow gays next door who we gave a vase too which we want back (see other questions). We are getting deeply upset and unsettled by their behaviour. They even pretend to have parties, I guess to make us jealous.

Anyway, I would like to look in their garden, as I know they can see me over their climbing frame (they have no children, they are very fun-loving, happy-go lucky gays). So I would like to see into theirs, to check for features such as swimming pools and water features and garden sheds and chicken runs, so I can get the same items only more expensive so they get jealous. I will them paint the items in the neighbours favourite colours (rainbow stars and hearts) to annoy them.

So, what excuse can I give to go into nextdoor neighbours garden?

Should I actually do this dream of sleeping in a garden shed some summer nights?Would a girl think I’m strange

June 29th, 2010 1 comment

For years I have had a dream of buildind or buying a garden shed to use as an art studio and on some nights acually sleep in. Even though I’m in my 20s my parents would still allow me to do this in their backyard. On some weekend nights I would sleep in the shed with my sleeping bag. I would get some time to myself and get an opportunity to read books alone while escaping TV,computer and radio.

Due to the size of the shed I would be unable to put in a restroom. The inside would look like a cabin with light borwn woodfinsh walls and a green door on both sides. The floors would be polished wood with rugs.

Several people who I have asked about this idea many times think its time to drop the idea and end the dream. Should I do this to get it out of my system or forget it?

Many girls laugh at this idea? My male friends think I"m crazy.

If I woke up in the middle of the night sleeping inside this garden shed with the door closed would I or any other person feel like they are trapped or in prison?

how can you soundproof a garden shed?

June 28th, 2010 3 comments

hi,

I’m hoping to soundproof my 10×8 wooden garden shed so I can play my drums but I don’t really know how to do it. I’ve heard many ways of doing it but some are just too expensive for me – I’d like to keep it under £200 if possible [but a bit over would be fine].

Now I know that for that price, it would be very difficult to fully soundproof it, but I’d like to reduce the noice as much as possible to a minimal for my price range. Any tips on what materials to use and where to buy them from would be greatly apprecaited!

Thanks,
Tom

Should I apply Preen to my garden PRIOR to tilling?

June 26th, 2010 4 comments

We bought a house last July. There is a wonderful garden spot in the back which was completely overrun by nasty weeds. We got all the weeds out last fall, but there were many seeds that were shed during the process. I’m tilling this weekend, but am wondering if applying preen prior to tilling would prevent new weeds from coming up.

Thanks!

Would it be safe to sleep in a garden shed/treehouse at night?

June 25th, 2010 4 comments

In my backyard I’m thinking about building buying a garden shed mini cabin to sleep in on some summer nights. The shed would be in the backyard. One concern I have is someone breaking in late at night while inside. The shed I’m looking at buying has wood floors, small windows and a wood panel door. The door is a solid woodfinish on the inside and outside. The door has a handle instead of a doornob. This means the only way to lock the door is with a padlock either on the outside or on the indside.

The shed/mini cabin has woodfinish walls inside. I would be concerned about someone breaking one of the windows at night to break in.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
This would just be a place to sleep maybe at the most once a week.

To make myself feel more comfortable I would want to paint the walls and paint the inside of the door colors that I enjoy.
I would put an airmatress on the floor an
I don’t have a tree to put a treehouse on
The area where I live is safe. The garden shed mini cabin has a rustic cabin feel. The garden shed/cabin has no electricity and I would be able to hear the birds in the morning.

What would it be like inside a garden shed with the door closed and no windows?

June 24th, 2010 4 comments

I’m thinking about using a garden shed as a place to relax and have privacy. The shed has battery operated lanterns. I will paint the walls green or blue. The inside of the door will be painted sky blue, green, dark blue or aqua.

The floors are made of wood and have rugs covering the wood.

Inside will also be a cot for naps. A comforable chair will also be inside.

How would it be to be inside and read for two hours and the door would be closed? Would it be uncomfortable? What about taking an afternoon nap inside with the door closed?

Many people think I should get over being afraid to close the door to the shed.

Any suggestions?

The door to the shed does not have a doornob. It has a latch on the inside of the door like restroom stalls.

I"m open to other colors for the door and walls if someone has better ideas for calming colors.

Its 65 degrees outside currently. AC isn’t necessary.
Would you close the door or leave it open if you were inside?
