Would it be possible to dig a hole in my back garden that was about 9 foot deep and about 10×10 foot wide, make it water proof, make a roof for it at the height of the ground and use it as an extra room. I have a shed that I was thinking of using as a way in if I took out the bottom of it and constructed a staircase. Also, I have wooden decking and was thinking of moving it, digging where it was and then putting it back and using it as a roof. I know it’s ambitious but you’ve got to aim high.
Also would I need planning permission and if possible, could you estimate how much it would cost, I would try to do the digging myself.
I am building a base for a shed. The size of the shed is 10×15 plastic shed with a extension. the Winchester is the model by royal outdoor, the plan so far is dig 6 holes 24-36in deep and put 4x4s in each hole cement around the 4x4s cut to desired height. Bolt 2x10s to all sides with 1/2 in bolts then use 2×6 as floor joists every 12in then ¾ in plywood on top to the joists the 50 year warranty masonry board from Lowes. This shed will house a 500lb quad a 35ton log splitter and a 42in arrands garden tractor and some other odds and ends.

The one I like from modern sheds is the one where a husband and wife is shown and to the right of that picture is a bed inside.
If you were to sleep in one of these which one would be more comfortable with the door closed and lights out?
Why the modern shed over the caravan?
the council want my mum to pay upfront for the wasps nest to be destroyed but she is on three pensions and they say she is not exempt from not paying is this true they can refuse to do it free of charge they said they wil only do it free of charge for ppl on benefit
My mum first spotted the rat coming out from under the garden shed and wondering round the garden, she HATES rats and wants it gone. I am a animal lover and don’t want it to be harmed. (i feel very strongly about this). My mums boyfriend went and told her that if there is one, there is probably more which has really scared her. Her boyfriend has gone out and bought a humane trap so we can release it on the common so it cal live out its days there… but there are problems with this:
a) does it have strong homing instincts (will it come back)
b) if there is more… then getting rid of one wont make a difference
c) rats are smart… could they work their way around such trap??
my mums boyfriend has said that if that doesn’t work then he is going to get a trap that will snap its back when it walks in
I REALLY DONT WANT IT TO END LIKE THAT!!!!
I dont know what to do… i love rats but if this trap doesn’t work.. then thats it!
Can anyone help me??? is there anything i can do??? how do i save the rat from a horrible death??
so.. my mums gone and got this humane trap.. now i just want to catch it so i can make sure it lives happily on the common.. and not killed by another trap…. but what is a rats fav food?? what is the best thing to put in a trap??
I had a shed built by a builder but he left before the job is finished (Don’t they all!) He did run an 3-core(?) + earth armoured cable underneath the garden between the main dwelling (back of the house in a outside connection box) and the shed, but both sides unconnected. On the inside of the house, there is a Twin&Earth cable running between the consumer unit with a 32A MCB and the connection box, outside the house. I want to know if I need a separate consumer unit in the shed to power a ring main (for power tools) and a lighting circuit, fed from the armoured cable. I presume if this is what’s required, I would need a 5A for the lighting circuit and a 32A for the ring main. Any advice would be appreciated.

i want to lime my garden veg plot and i have a bag of cement render in my shed it contains lime so can i put it in my veg plot?
I have a metal utility building on the family farm I need to move to our property. But our house already had a barn and a little shed we use for gardening, plus we moved a 2 car carport and a (ugly!) utility building we use for outdoor equipment like the mower.
So I was thinking of making this building into something more for use than storage, but I don’t know what to do with it! It looks similar in construction and size as this one http://www.gr8sheds.com/metal%20side%20lofted%20barn.jpg except ours is silver and has one wide door rather than double doors. It has two windows on front like that and two on back. It has a plywood floor and was previously wired for electricity with several sockets and a light fixture. It will go in a corner of our fenced backyard with a few acres of woods behind it. So I’d paint it for sure and probably add a little porch covering. Then I’d decorate it with some flower boxes and stepping stones, whatnot. I just don’t know what to do with the inside. My only idea so far is a little outdoor room with somewhere to sit and read or talk. Any other suggestions?

Hi all, im planning to build a shed out my back. Im going to use it to play my future drums which im going to have to purchase also. Now, what could i possibly do to eliminate as much noise as possible or even no noise at all if thats possible. I live in an estate, and would like to play at odd hours. Could i get advice on what materials i would need for the shed and how big i should have it. I have a decent enough sized garden, I have €15,000 for my drums and the shed, i dont expect to blow the lot because its pretty much all i have.
Also im looking to buy a double bass drums with alot of symbals etc etc
Any ideas where to buy?
Im working at a house which supply the tools I need to do the job, amongst them a number of gasoline gardening tools that have been lying in the shed for years. I got all to work with use of the primer, but the hedge cutter doesn’t seem to have one so no fuel is getting to the engine making pulling the cord pointless. Any ideas how to get the gas into the carb?
