Is there anything I can do to perk up my mower after the winter?

I forgot to add fuel stabilizer in the fall before storing my Craftsman push mower in my garden shed. I live in Iowa. Now my mower is sputtering and running pretty rough. Are there any fuel additives I can use to perk it up? I don’t want to mess around with draining the gas and adding fresh gas. It ran just fine last fall.

i had that problem a few years ago with a friends mower, go to a a garage or something like that and get some stuff called REDEX add about 6/ 10 cap fulls to the fuel and use the mower till the fuel runs out, put in fresh fuel next time and put in the same amount of REDEX in and it should help and get it running a lot better over a little bit of time. hope this helps john

yes go to the local hardware store and ask. they have something that you put in the gas tank with the old fuel. i forgot what’s it’s called but i used to be a manager in a l & g dept.

no just add new fuel and run it. all that other jazz is crap as long as you don’t have water in the gas you don’t have a problem

dry gas. sounds like you have a tad bit of water in the carb.check the plugs, air filter(for dirt) and the jet.(might be clogged)just a tiny bit of dry gas will do ya,after you fill up the tank, add a little dry gas and open it up,carb cleaner as last resort.

I would add Sea Foam to the gas and to the next tank full. takes care of mine in Colorado, and I never use fuel stabilizer.

Fuel Stabilizer does not work. Your carb needs cleaned. Dont need to drain the gas. If you look around you can find someone to do it for a couple bucks. Just needs to be taken off and take an air hose and blow everything out and put back together. I have done a few dozen already this year.
