How to Build a Storage Shed With Plans

October 6th, 2011 No comments

www.YesYouCanTrust.com A simple storage shed can be constructed in one or two weekends. If a concrete slab is in place, building a shed will be much faster. It pays to invite a few friends to help, since managing the framework is difficult with just one or two people. Cutting and assembling the basic framework will be the most difficult part of shed construction. Use a circular saw to cut framework for a concrete pour. Build the patio base 8 inches deep. Use 2-by-8-inch boards to construct the box to hold the concrete. Use 2-by-4-inch boards to build the shed’s basic framework. Construct the wood skeleton of the building by installing wall studs and ceiling rafters on 16-inch centers. Secure all framing with stainless steel screws installed with an electric screwdriver. Build one wall section at a time, and check all work with a carpenter’s leveling tool. Leave openings on each wall for a window. Finish the roof area. Nail 1/2-inch plywood to the roof of the shed to cover the rafters. Install tar paper and asphalt shingles. Cover exposed rafters by nailing on fascia boards. Enclose the bottom of the exposed rafters with plywood. Add guttering to the perimeter of the building, if desired. Caulk all appropriate gaps. Install aluminum-framed sliding windows in spaces left for windows. Secure the framework of the windows to the wood framing using stainless-steel screws. Add exterior-grade siding on the outside of the shed, caulk and prepare to paint exposed wood. to learn

www.AsYouCanTrust.com ——How to Draft Garden Shed Plans Begin by clearing a workspace for yourself that is sufficient enough to accommodate a large piece of drafting paper along with your other materials such as pencils and rulers. Your garden shed should have four walls like any standard shed plan, but you need to make sure that you include measurements that detail the various lengths of wood to be cut. Each framed wall should have the studs spaced at least 16 inches apart and have a complete header and footer. Illustrate the diagram for your roof. You can use ready made trusses and adapt your roof design to those, or create a separate design for your own trusses. Either way, you need to carefully reference your
