Cheapest is scrounge materials. Pallets are easy to find and free. Metal roofing out in country at least where i live is free when you find some. People are always letting someone dismantle small building and hauling material off.
My 16×16 shed cost 250. I got roof free and only bought 4x4s because i was too busy to do the pallet thing
I’d look on Craigslist for material and building to tear down
Just remember, you get what you put into it. So if your storage shed doesn’t last throughout the years or collapses…. You should always put quality and price together. You could always buy the set and put it together yourself, that should save you money. This place has lots of storage sheds and instant garage carports: http://www.carportscenter.com/
Build a pole barn. It’s basically posts secured in the ground with a roof to cover it. Depending on what you need to store in there, you can include walls, but these are not necessary.
I’d say building your own is the best approach. I’ve seen the pre-built ones and I’m not a fan of the materials they use. When you build it yourself, you can make sure you use quality materials and proper building techniques. You can find a whole bunch of shed building plans and templates at http://www.thediyer.com/Shed_Plans
Hopefully you will find something here that is useful to you.
Hi, welcome to Plans For Sheds my name is Steve. I am a family man, with 3 kids and yes I am happily married. And if my wife reads this, I am very happily married! My DIY and building skills are OK but when I followed some foolproof blueprints I was able to build my own garden shed plus a play house for my girls. You wouldn't believe what a focal pint it has made in our yard.

Check the price on every size board you will need from various lumber yards. you can save by doing so. That’s how I built my 10×14 storage building.
Cheapest way to build it, is to buy it prebuilt; then build a shelf in it, and say you built it.
It would depend on what material you want it to be constructed of.
Or buy a tent, and hang a sign on it that says "garden shed".
